Xuefei Yang

Xuefei Yang’s extraordinary journey from a country that had banned Western musical instruments to international acclaim as a classical guitarist adds an inspiring dimension to the festival’s third year.

Against all odds, Xuefei became the first-ever guitarist in China to enter a music school, paving the way to becoming the first internationally recognized Chinese guitarist on the world stage.  Xuefei’s international success has seen her perform in over 50 countries at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Carnegie Hall. She has collaborated with leading orchestras worldwide and continues to enrich the guitar repertoire through innovative commissions and arrangements.

Her contributions to the classical music world have been widely recognized, with Classic FM naming her one of the top 100 classical musicians of our time and receiving the esteemed ‘Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music.’
